Santa Monica-UCLA Hospital is a 220-bed community facility in the nearby coastal community of Santa Monica that is owned by UCLA and is part of the UCLA Health Care System. The hospital has all the amenities of a smaller community hospital coupled with the latest in diagnostic and therapeutic facilities. Full-time Department of Medicine faculty practices are adjacent to the hospital. The hospital is currently undergoing extensive expansion of both inpatient and outpatient facilities.

It is a community non-profit hospital dedicated to meeting the healthcare needs of the Westside of Los Angeles. The medical center features several nationally recognized clinical programs including the inpatient service for UCLA geriatrics, ranked #1 by U.S. New and World Report. In 1998, UCLA Healthcare signed a strategic alliance with Orthopedic Hospital/Los Angeles that will result in the relocation of Orthopedics' inpatient services to Santa Monica when the replacement Santa Monica-UCLA Medical Center is completed.
